a firedog?

Hmmm. After cutting and sewing about half of my costume last night, I'm starting to think, What was I thinking?!

At least I didn't plan to make an entire suit for myself. I actually could have made an entire suit for myself since I bought so much of this fleece (I am blaming my very impatient kids combined with the annoying new cutting line protocol at my local JoAnn Fabrics). At least it was on sale for $4/yard. What I am making is a longish-shirtish-thingy that I can wear black leggings under. Not sure if that is going to make me look any less ridiculous (actually, probably more), but that's my plan. Oh, and let's not forget the tail!

My idea to dress up as a Dalmatian came from one of our favorite books. See? That's me and my fireman Marcus right there. Should I wear a firehat? Ummm, no. Will I look like a very old child in this costume? Probably. As a dog-lover, will Marcus just love my soft, cuddly, Dalmatian costume? I think he will!

And that's what matters, right?

At least I won't look as silly as Chris will. I managed to get that sucker to agree to dress-up again this year! Ha!

  2. I am so impressed. And I was proud I knit Cora a scarf for her costume, but your Halloween costumes are whole hog. This blog is awesome by the way. I came across it when I saw you on Facebook. I'll have to subscribe to you! I love crafting, but I always feel like I have NO idea what I'm doing when sewing with a machine. I much prefer knitting, needlework, and hand sewing felt. Wow, this is a long comment. Anyway... it was super fun looking at all the cool stuff you've made! You'll have to give me some pointers! - Brooke
