girlie car seat cover

I think my nesting instinct has kicked in early because I have been sewing like a crazy lady this past week. This is a project I actually completed with my friend, Anna, at our Thursday Night Sewing Club a few weeks ago. Anna just had her healthy, beautiful baby Quinn yesterday. In fact, I bet Quinn rode home in her cute covered car seat today!

Both Anna and I are using baby car seats that have already been through two boys, so we decided to girl them up by making car seat covers for them. First I saw Sew Much Ado's Gathered Carseat Canopy, which is very cute. I did a search for car seat cover tutorials and found one that looked a little bit simpler by Make It Do -  Baby Car Seat Cover Tutorial. This is the tutorial we ended up using. I used Riley Blake fabric for the outer main panel and trim.

The interior fabric is a cute pink floral print that I purchased from The Quilting Loft (but I can't remember the name of it - sorry!), and it is also trimmed with the same Riley Blake dot fabric.

My car seat is feeling sufficiently girlie now. Only five more weeks to go for me! Congratulations to Anna and family!

:) Shelly
